I want to share some information with you about three new faculty trainings that will be available this month. Official Yavapai College Micro-Credentials will be available upon successful completion.

Canvas Readiness

We have updated our self-guided Canvas Readiness Course. This Fall, it will be part of Human Resources’ annual required trainings for full-time faculty. The time to complete the course will depend on your comfort level using Canvas. This course will continue to be required for new faculty.

Accessibility 101

The Department of Justice’s New Rule on the Accessibility of Web Content requires that all courses with online content meet WCAG 2.1 level AA accessibility standards by April 2026. TeLS will provide a self-guided training in Canvas that will support faculty in making their course content compliant.

Foundations of Course Mapping

The Foundations of Course Mapping workshop is designed to introduce Yavapai College faculty to the core principles of course mapping and backwards design. These instructional design strategies help ensure that course outcomes, assessments, and activities are intentionally aligned to support student learning and success.

Whether you’re creating a new course or refining an existing one, this self-paced workshop will help you identify the importance of clear course structure and alignment. This foundational knowledge is especially valuable for faculty who are planning to redesign or convert 16-week courses into 8-week formats in future workshops.

Educational Technology: Innovate, Implement, Inspire

Join the first cohort of Educational Technology: Innovate, Implement, Inspire, a new asynchronous online professional development micro-credential designed to support you as you explore new educational technology tools, apply them in your teaching, and share what you learn with your colleagues.

Watch your email for newsflashes about these learning opportunities as we make them available later this month!
