The EMS/Paramedic faculty requested TLS design what they called “chaos incarnate,” an experience intended to inoculate students against the external pressure and sensory overload they face during critical, life-saving care.

Corey Carlson built a 40-minute immersive simulation engineered to push limits. It layered strobing lights, abstract visual distortions, and a deliberately disorienting soundscape, including crying infants, distorted and reversed music, industrial noise, and even subsonic frequencies. The aim was not spectacle, but controlled overload, forcing students to sustain clinical focus amid escalating chaos.

Students and faculty came out energized, calling it a powerful and transformative learning experience. The faculty immediately began discussing plans for full implementation in fall.
